When will the Fund close?
The Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund will cease operations by December 31, 2012.
Why is the Fund closing?
Richard Goldman intended that the Fund end after he passed away. He believed it is the responsibility of each generation to address the most pressing needs of their day.
What will happen to the Fund's remaining assets?
The assets that remain will continue to support the philanthropic work of the Goldman family through the foundations of Richard and Rhoda Goldman's three surviving children. Through their foundations, the Goldman children will continue the family tradition of tzedakah, supporting the causes and issues about which each is personally passionate.
How does this impact the Goldman Environmental Prize?
The closure of the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund will have no impact on the Prize. The Prize has its own endowment and will continue to honor environmental activists around the world for many years to come.
