What are the Goldman Fund's deadlines for letters of inquiry?
There are no deadlines. Requests are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
How many board meetings do you have?
The Goldman Fund Board currently meets three times per year.
How many copies of the letter of inquiry or proposal do you need?
One copy.
What happens if my letter of inquiry is accepted?
You will be contacted by Goldman Fund staff and a proposal will be requested.
When can I meet with a program officer?
Meetings are generally limited to organizations that have been invited to submit full proposals.
How long does it take for a decision on my grant request?
In general, six to nine months from the receipt of the letter of inquiry.
Can I reapply for a grant?
Yes. The Goldman Fund accepts requests for repeat funding only after the current grant period has expired. See Reapplying for Support for further information.
Can I apply for funding while my organization has an active grant?
No. The Goldman Fund will only consider a new grant at the end of the current grant period.
What size grant should I request?
There are many factors that influence the Goldman Fund's decision on grant size. An organization should request an amount that they feel is appropriate for their project. Please note that the Goldman Fund rarely supports 100 percent of a project budget.
Can you suggest other funding sources?
The Foundation Center maintains a comprehensive listing of U.S. foundations and their areas of interest.
What geographic areas do you fund?
Each program area has different geographic priorities. Refer to Funding Priorities for information on the geographic focus of each program area.
Do you make grants to individuals?
No. The Goldman Fund only supports organizations that are recognized as nonprofit by the IRS.
What are the chances of receiving a grant?
A large number of worthwhile organizations approach the Goldman Fund for support. The process is highly competitive. Even if a project fits within our guidelines, it will not necessarily be funded.

How often can I apply?
The Goldman Fund will only accept one grant request from an organization within a 12-month period.
