FAQ
When will the Fund close?
The Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund will cease operations by December 31, 2012.
Why is the Fund closing?
Richard Goldman intended that the Fund end after he passed away. He believed it is the responsibility of each generation to address the most pressing needs of their day.
What will happen to the Fund's remaining assets?
In keeping with Richard and Rhoda Goldman's wishes that each generation identify and address the most pressing priorities of their own time, the assets that remain will continue to support the philanthropic work of the Goldman family through the foundations of Richard and Rhoda Goldman's three surviving children. Through their foundations, the Goldman children will continue the family tradition of tzedakah, supporting organizations consistent with each foundation's goals.
Will the Fund be making more grants before it closes?
Yes, in the form of legacy grants to select current and past grantees.
Can my organization apply for a legacy grant?
At this time, the Fund has already concluded its selection of legacy grants. Recipients were selected by the Board of Directors after internal consideration based on the organizations' past relationship with the Fund and the issues that have been near and dear to the Goldman family.
